WHY SOY WAX?

http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20030207.html

Soy candles are made from a renewable resource supporting American Farmers. They are non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, biodegradable, clean burning, water soluble and clean up with soap and water. They burn cooler giving off more scent. They give 100% support to the American economy. WHAT IS WRONG WITH REGULAR CANDLES? They are a petroleum by-product, most of which is not made in the USA. When burned they release at least 2 carcinogens into the air of your home which can harm the nervous, heart and circulatory systems. They emit a black soot which clings to your furniture and walls of your home.

Purity of our waxes:

Our soy wax is NOT a blend of paraffin & soy way - this is a trick that is being used by MANY companies.  They say they have soy wax candles, but what they don't say is they are a blend of soy wax and paraffin.  Don't be fooled!  Ours candles are made from a wax manufacturer  that has been subjected to be analyzed and scrutinized for the presence of pesticides, herbicides and genetically modified materials by experienced third party Accredited Laboratories. All results proved that our waxes contain NONE of these substances.

We use good, old-fashioned, earth grown soybeans to create all our environmentally friendly waxes.  These waxes are further enhanced with the finest carefully selected botanical oils giving them their performance characteristics. All of our waxes are guaranteed to contain NO petroleum, paraffin or beeswax products whatsoever. We also guarantee that all of our waxes are 100% vegetable.

The Facts:

Aromatherapy and home fragrance candles are the most rapidly growing area of the candle industry.

This growth happened so fast that consumers and producers didn’t stop to consider candle related health and environmental issues.  Most people around the world are unaware that the candles they are burning in their homes and around their families are made from petroleum based wax called paraffin.  Paraffin is the left over residue from gasoline refining.

Do you want to burn paraffin candles in your home?

Dangers of Paraffin:

Petroleum-based by-product of gasoline refining and may be manufactured from foreign oil.

Imparts numerous carcinogens into the air while burning.

Imparts high quantities of soot into the air that can damage home interiors.

Large manufacturers may have profit motive for continuing to use paraffin-based waxes.

Below are the benefits of using soy wax.

Soy wax comes from a renewable energy source, unlike paraffin that is a petroleum product. Soy wax candles do not contain animal fats, unlike most of the paraffin candles on the market today..   Burns approx. 30% longer than paraffin candles with much less waste.
Pricing of these candles are comparable to paraffin candles and much lower than bees wax candles.   Research shows that soy wax burns cleaner than both paraffin  and 100% bees wax candles. Our soy candles are made with essential oils and/or the finest fragrances.
Soy wax is 100% Bio-degradable. Our candles use 100% cotton, paper or hemp wicks - no lead! Soy wax is water soluble, making it easier to extract from glass, fabric, carpet and other materials.
Our candles meet VEGAN CRITERIA.   Opens a new market for farming communities

The soybean is one of the most versatile products used today.  It has been a high protein source for millions of people for thousands of years.  However, being a food source is only the beginning of the uses of this abundant resource.

In the past century, research efforts surrounding soy and its uses have resulted in a multitude of everyday consumer goods such as body & skin care products, hair products, cleaning products, paint removers, crayons, pens, and yes…you guessed it…candle wax.

Soy candles do not produce as much soot as paraffin candles

Candles made from soy wax do not emit the soot and fumes that are attributed to run-of-the-mill paraffin candles.  You’ve probably seen it a hundred times.  You buy a paraffin candle that smells nice, it’s colorful, the presentation is perfect…then you light it.  Within minutes, you can see the black residue rising from the lit wick, staining the jar or container from which these candles burn…and that’s just from the first time you light it.  Continued use of these paraffin candles will not only further blacken the jar or container it sits in…it can blacken your walls, ceilings, vents, AC units, heaters, curtains or blinds, and even carpets…and it’s not just dirt that stains your home.  Now, imagine that same soot being inhaled into your lungs.

Soy candles don't make my head hurt!

Paraffin is a petroleum product – a byproduct of oil refining.

Soy candles help our environment.

Soybeans are a renewable and biodegradable resource.  Candle wax is just one example of hundreds of uses of this versatile legume.  Even today, new uses of soy are being researched because of the abundance and growing potential of this bean.

Soy candles help the U.S. economy & farmers.

The production and burning of soy wax candles can greatly benefit the American agricultural economy.  If soy wax replaced common paraffin wax, an estimated 60 million pounds of soy beans would be required for annual candle production.

Soy Wax vs. Paraffin Wax

·         Soy candles produce practically no soot.

·         Soy candles burn slower and last between 30% and 50% longer than a paraffin candle of the same size.

·         Soy candles support U.S. soybean farmers whereas paraffin candles may be manufactured with foreign oil.

·         Soy wax does not require any additives. (Only dyes and fragrance, if desired).
