Calendula Chamomile All Purpose Herbal Balm

By Ann C Wooledge
on November 10, 2009

Herbal Balm – perfect for gardeners!

What's new about our herbal balm? Check it out here and see what we've added to make this already very effective balm into an even more absolute necessity in your medicine cabinet.

Includes Certified organic Chamomile, Calendula & Helichyrsum flowers infused in certified organic extra virgin olive oil. We’ve been infusing our own organic oils – using certified organic extra virgin olive oil and organic botanicals. By doing this we know that the oil has been infused at the highest level possible to extract all the beneficial properties. We go above and beyond the normal and infuse the oil longer and at low temperatures.

Calendula is an important folk medicine plant, often used for treating inflamed tissue. During the Civil War, doctors used calendula leaves to treat open wounds on the battlefield. Calendula flower is among the most soothing of herbs for salves. Herbalist Aviva Romm, author of Natural Healing for Babies and Children (Crossing Press, 1996), uses it along with chickweed (Stellaria media), plantain (Plantago spp.), comfrey (Symphytum officinale) and chamomile (Matricaria recutita) to soothe children’s skin. There is a study of calendula for wounds that showed it to noticeably stimulate physiological regeneration and skin healing. Then top all of that - we also add the essential oils of high altitude Lavender, Tea Tree, Roman Chamomile and German Chamomile - all well known for their comforting, anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

Holiday Christmas Spice Soap

By Ann C Wooledge
on November 08, 2009

Many years ago when we first started making candles, I stumbled upon this very special fragrance. It is a fragrance oil, not an essential oil, but for a wash-off product, we felt it was especially nice for a Christmas soap. It will smell nice even just sitting in your bathroom, but I think you will very much enjoy this nostalgic fragrance each time you use it. The soap is, as are all of our soaps, made with 30% certified organic shea butter and wild-crafted, organically grown yucca root that we harvest and process ourselves. This is what sets our soap apart from any others you will use. Your skin will feel soft and smooth, but clean, not dry or flaky like other chemical-laden soaps do. This is a limited edition and will only be available during the Christmas & Thanksgiving Seasons. To check out raw pictures of these soaps as they were made take a look at our Facebook page – while you’re there, we’d love for you to sign up as a fan!

Immune Enhancer Blend Essential Oil

By Ann C Wooledge
on August 31, 2009

We reformulated this already effective blend in the summer of 2011 after reading more and more research about the immunostimulant properties of quite a few of the essential oils we already love and use in this and other blends. We will soon be adding links to some of the best articles for those who want to know the why's of this blend and the proof that the chemical constituents in this blend have been researched and shown to be very effective. The predominant chemical constituent in some of these oils have studies showing they activate white blood cell activity (basically your immune system's army), are able to inhibit airborne germs, and general immunostimulants. The perfect blend to use if you're going to be traveling, in a conference with lots of people stuck in the room for hours at a time, shopping on busy holidays, a childcare setting, a hospital hallway or nurses' station or just being exposed to potentially dangerous colds and flu's. We've detailed below the properties of each oil:

Petitgrain - contains a high percentage of Linalool and Linalyl acetate known to be immunostimulants

Dill Weed, certified organic - contains Carvone which has been studied and shown to increase white blood cell counts, and has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Clary Sage - also contains about 50 to 60% Linalyl acetate and is believed to be an effective immunostimulant

Oregano - contains Carvacrol, which is a well-known to have highly effective antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, plus it is suggested that Carvacrol might have some of the strongest antioxidant properties.

Basil, ct linalool - this particular chemotype contains approximately 92% linalool, and as stated previously, is believed to be a very effective immunostimulant.

Tea Tree, certified organic - this oil is one of only a few essential oils used in aromatherapy that contains a fairly large percentage of Terpinen-4-ol and though well-known for its germ fighting abilities, it is believed to be an effective immunostimulant and plays a part in activating white blood cell activity (our front-line germ fighters)

Lemon, certified organic - contains d-limonene a powerful helper for our immune systems as studies have shown that it contributes to the activity of some of the most important aspects of our bodies ability to fight off infections, including increasing the total white blood cell count, antibody production and enhancing our natural killer cell activity.

Cinnamon leaf - contains Eugenol which has been studied and found to be a very effective germ fighting constituent

Black Pepper, certified organic - contains Caryophyllene-b, shown in studies to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties

Clove leaf - also contains Eugenol and has the properties as stated above has been shown to be highly antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory

Bergamot - contains Linalool and as stated previously has been shown to be an effective immunostimulant

Breathe Easy™ Blend Essential Oil

By Recipes for a Healthier You Appetite Control Snacks
on August 31, 2009

A lot of research and testing went into the formulating of this blend. We have quite a few customers with allergy and asthma issues. Asthma, in particular, requires a more gentle touch so that the automatic strong cough reflex is not elicited, which can happen with some cold and flu type blends. We believe and have found that this blend works effectively to calm the cough reflex and the tight feeling of inflamed and irritated lungs. I remember quite clearly my experience with this blend after running what seemed like forever in the Denver airport to catch a short connection. We ran from one gate to another and we were both out of shape. By the time we made it to our seats, the flight had been waiting on us (surprisingly enough) and the air was stagnant in the cabin of the plane. My chest hurt from the over-exertion and I truly could not take a deep breath. I was coughing uncontrollably and was seriously about to grab for the oxygen bag. I remembered that I had the Breathe Easy in my purse and grabbed for it, just opened the bottle and felt immediate relief. True story. If you are familiar with Young Living blends - this is much like their RC blend, but much more reasonably priced with unadulterated or undiluted oils.

Naturally Nurturing™ Hand & Body Cream

By Ann C Wooledge
on August 29, 2009

One of our most popular items in our organic, paraben-free, phthalate-free, gluten free, cruelty free, vegan line of luxurious products at very affordable prices.  Google other organic creams, lotions and soaps and you will see just how reasonably priced our products are, plus they are truly skin-healthy and therefore contribute to the overall health of you and your family.  Mix and match with our organic botanical soaps.

Mother Nature knows best - that's what we believe and that's how we purchase our ingredients and formulate our recipes. Thicker than a "lotion",  this organic, paraben-free, non-greasy cream slides easily onto your skin with no “drag,” absorbs quickly, and leaves your skin feeling refreshed, renewed, hydrated and healthy.  Take a look at our ingredients and you will see why our cream is a step above. Our base is pure certified organic shea butter with 100% certified organic vegetable oils that we purchase from suppliers that we trust and know. We purchase unrefined, virgin oils that still retain all of nature's benefits that haven't been processed out of them. Our creams are naturally thick without artificial fillers and stiffeners you will see everywhere. Yes, it's less expensive to just make the product thick with chemicals, but we want healthy skin, so we use a large percentage of certified organic shea butter instead. We include certified organic skin-healthy herbs that we infuse at low temperatures for weeks and pure essential oils that are natural anti-free-radical ingredients known to protect your skin from aging and environmental toxins.  It is difficult to find a product with as many unprocessed ingredients as ours, as well as being organic. Choose unscented or one of our uniquely blended true aromatherapy choices using only 100% pure essential oils.

You asked – we listened. We are now offering all of our creams in the convenient sizes listed above, and also in bottles!

Organic Oatmeal, Honey & Buckwheat Soap

By Ann C Wooledge
on August 29, 2009

An excellent “scrubby soap” to exfoliate all skin types. We’ve used certified organic oat bran, almonds, honey and buckwheat – all of which are very beneficial for the skin. Light scent of honey and oatmeal.

Handcrafted Oakmoss & Olive Leaf Soap

By Ann C Wooledge
on August 29, 2009

Awesome fragrance that leaves a clean, fresh and not over-powering drift of fragrance after using. Oakmoss is a wonderful clean fragrance for both women or men, but the men particularly love it. We’ve added olive leaf powder to give it the beautiful green color and to add to its beneficial properties. Olive leaf powder is believed to have antibacterial properties and studies suggest that it can increase circulation and healing of the skin.

Handmade Almond & Oats Soap

By Ann C Wooledge
on August 29, 2009

If you like the fragrance of almonds and if you like “scrubby” soaps that are extremely beneficial for your skin as they clear off that dead layer of skin, you will love this soap. The beauty of handcrafted soap, especially with the high percentage of shea butter we add, is that the pH of your skin is balanced and not stripped as it is with commercial soaps. We’ve added organic oats to contribute to the scrubbiness, as well as organic ground almonds. The oats have their own contribution to these skin-healthy ingredients.

I have to tell you, we've tried very many almond fragrance oils but none of them gave me that same pleasant aroma that real almond extract does - you know the kind you use in cooking. I always add almond extract to most of the Christmas cookies I make because I love the taste. Well - we recently tested a new almond fragrance that is, if possible, stronger than almond extract.  And the even better news is that it came through in the cold process soap very nicely - good, strong, but not overwhelming, warm fragrance of almonds. This is definitely a keeper.

Organic Vitamin C Ester Serum

By Ann C Wooledge
on August 29, 2009

This serum has a very high concentration of Vitamin C esters – the only kind that your skin can actually absorb and use. The Vitamin C esters create a unique and powerful synergy with the other vitamins, such as E, and extracts included in this blend. Other vitamin C products you might see on the market contain water-soluble vitamin C (ascorbic acid), which is not able to penetrate the surface of the skin as it repels water-soluble substances. Water-soluble vitamin C when used as a supplement can be helpful indeed, but as a skin-care product you will need a lipid-soluble ester of Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate) in order to protect skin cells and skin tissue.

This serum, due to the variety of botanical extracts, helps protect your skin from environmental toxins that it “faces” on a daily basis.  This is a light serum and powerful but is able to provide a high level of antioxidants without stinging or causing inflammation to your skin. A vitamin C ester skin cream can both help repair and protect your skin from environmental damage which causes wrinkles and discoloration.

Skin Types:  Mature, dry, normal, sensitive and combination.
