DESCRIPTION:

This is one of my all-time favorites for skin care and it is in all of our facial products – all of them! Why? It’s not a cheap oil, but it has a long and illustrious reputation of being helpful for cell regeneration. Known to be a popular skin care ingredient where it “displays a distinct revitalizing effect on skin suffering from lack of tone.” – Kurt Schnaubelt. The oil is obtained from the steam distillation of the wild carrot. This carrot is not to be confused with the cultivated carrot that we eat regularly (or you should!) It has, in some of the literature, been referred to as Queen Anne’s Lace and the flowery, white lacy tops are what is distilled into the essential oil. I grew up where Queen Anne’s Lace was a weed. In some areas of the country is grown as a cultivated garden flower. It is beautiful and beneficial nonetheless. It is so often confused for the cultivated carrot and this confusion also exists when you attempt to purchase or do research on "carrot oil"! Even in the Adobe Stock website searching for a "carrot seed essential oil" graphic brought up many pictures of the orange cultivated carrot - no wonder people are confused. But, Daucus carota is Queen Anne's Lace and the essential oil is steam distilled from the flowering tops. It has a woody, earthy aroma that some find objectionable (I've come to love it though), but the amount needed for skin care products doesn’t come through in the final product – but the effect it has on your skin will come through. Check out the Benefits tab for additional information. Take a look also at the benefits of Carrot Oil, which we also use extensively in our facial products.

INGREDIENTS: 100% pure, undiluted, unadulterated steam distilled essential oil from the seeds of the Daucus carota plant.

SAFETY/USAGE:

Carrot Seed Essential Oil

An easy do-it-yourself way to incorporate the antiwrinkle, cell-renewing properties of this essential oil is mix the following blend into any of your favorite unscented cream (our unscented hand & body cream would be good for this purpose.)

Add to 8 oz of cream or your favorite carrier oil. See our carrier oil benefits page to help you decide which one to use for your skin type.

5 drops Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) essential oil
5 drops Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) essential oil
5 drops Carrot Seed (Daucus carota) essential oil
5 drops Rosemary, ct Verbenone (Rosmarinus officinalis)
5 drops Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
5 drops Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)

Safety or Cautions: Carrot seed essential oil is considered to be non-toxic, and non skin-sensitizing. As with all oils, this oil must be diluted with a carrier prior to use. Please check the link to the individual essential oils noted in the recipe for safety/usage information. See our Essential Oil Database for more information.

According to Robert Tisserand's EOS book, Carrot Seed Oil was reported to cause antigestational effects in rats and mice. However, the quantities used for testing were "very high". Regardless, most people do not diffuse carrot seed oil alone and you will most likely find it in a blend for skin care, which is how we use it. And in that regard, it would be at a very low percentage after factoring in skin absorption. Having said that, I would suggest avoid using this oil during pregnancy if you are not blending it with other essential oils. Likewise, using this oil around children should be a non-issue. All of our Facial Regimen line that contains our "Skin Blend" of essential oils, and, therefore, carrot seed and myrrh essential oils, are available without the Skin Blend. We add our essential oils fresh to each order individually, which gives us the freedom to include or not to include them in your order. Either send us an email or make your comments in the "comments" section at checkout. Probably to be extra safe - simply click the "contact us" button on the right hand side and let us know.

IMPORTANT: All of our products are for external use only.

We also suggest you have a good working knowledge of the use of essential oils or consult with an aromatherapy professional prior to use. In addition, Essential Oils must be properly diluted before use in order to avoid any damages to property or adverse physical effects (including injury or bodily harm). Please read our Disclaimer before using our products.
