Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) Essential Oil, Organic
Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) essential oil, certified organic, aromatherapeutic
Prices have also drastically increased on this precious oil so beware of "too low" prices as there will be adulterated oils widely available. Also be careful of the Country of Origin - hugely different in the samples I received.
Country of Origin – Somalia
Steam distilled from the resin; technically hydro-distilled. This is a fresh batch just received. The odor profile is (I know you hear this all the time) amazing. Frankincense has always been just a utilitarian oil for me - meaning for respiratory and other types of benefits and we include it in quite a few of our blends - but not something I grabbed or even thought that much about. THIS TIME as I was making a new blend, and I went to wipe the pipette and put it in the "to be washed/sterilized" container, I was immediately drawn to the fragrance coming off of the tissue I had used to wipe the pipette. Now hear me here - I'm not a marketing expert, I seriously don't know how to do the hyperbole thing, but this was and is a very, very nice frankincense. I've started using it for many other things now. It is now one of my main go-to oils for respiratory issues and really like to diffuse it along with cardamon at bedtime if I'm feeling on the verge of getting a cold or recovering from a cold. If I actually get a cold, and I never do unless after a plane trip, I use the Cold & Flu Blend and alternate it with the Breathe Easy Blend. Seriously, the Cold & Flu Blend terminated a cold in a very short time after my last plane trip.
Available in 5 ml, 10 ml and 15 ml sizes in amber glass bottles with safety dropper caps

DESCRIPTION:
Frankincense, which is olibanum, is actually a small tree that can grow as high as 20 feet. The remarkable properties of this essential oil are achieved through the steam distillation of the resin. Cuts are made into the trunk of the tree and the resin, as other resins naturally do, seeps out of the tree. This resin will then harden - and if you purchase resins to use for incense - then you know what I am talking about. Which, by the way, this resin makes a very nice incense that contains additional and different beneficial properties than the essential oil that we are selling here.
If you have purchased cosmetics and in particular eyeliner and eyebrow pencils that are referred to as "kohl", frankincense was the original kohl after it was charred.
According to Gabriel Mojay in his classic book "Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit", one of the most important targets for this oil is the ability to affect the nervous system. He tells us that it can relax but at the same time revitalize, which, obviously, makes it an excellent choice for nervous tension and exhaustion when we come home after a long day, or even a long day at home, but we still need to prepare dinner, help with homework, drive to sports. This oil would I think allow us to relax but still be able to have the energy and focus to happily perform those duties - I mean privileges. I know we all can relate to that - which is why I'm surprised that I've only used this oil for its skin health properties and respiratory properties. Gabriel also tells us it is particularly good for releasing an accumulation of stress that can lead to irritability - which I know we are all thinking - YES - I can certainly use that at the end of a long day at work - or home. Frankincense can help sleep patterns and restlessness. It is uplifting and, therefore, often used to relieve depressive symptoms.
