We use ONLY certified organic shea butter, coconut oil and olive oil - all very skin healthy, nurturing, hydrating. Herbal Balm – perfect for nurses!

What's new about our all purpose herbal balm? Well, we've added certified organic unrefined (high oleic) Avocado oil, a particularly nurturing oil for the skin. We are now using certified organic food grade Avocado oil, unrefined, not the cosmetic grade that other cosmetic companies might use - and that actually we used to use. Why did we change? Because the unrefined retains all of those natural vitamins A, B1, B2, D and E. It also has sterols, lecithin and other essential fatty acids that are lost in the refining process. These are properties we need to impact the health of our skin. Is this certified organic, unrefined oil more expensive? Yes, it certainly is, but for now we can absorb the cost and keep the price of this very effective healing balm the same as we have for probably five years. This oil has a long history of being particularly helpful to those with skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea - or just dry, thirsty skin! When we opened the container of the new unrefined avocado oil it was amazing and we knew it was worth the extra cost - very dark, rich green and thick. We have in the past used cosmetic grade which was colorless, odorless and thin and, frankly, we just weren't satisfied with that. We think you'll notice the difference. We certainly did.

Calendula is an important folk medicine plant, often used for treating inflamed tissue. During the Civil War, doctors used calendula leaves to treat open wounds on the battlefield. Calendula flower is among the most soothing of herbs for salves. Herbalist Aviva Romm, author of Natural Healing for Babies and Children (Crossing Press, 1996), uses it along with chickweed (Stellaria media), plantain (Plantago spp.), comfrey (Symphytum officinale) and chamomile (Matricaria recutita) to soothe children’s skin. There is a study of calendula for wounds that showed it to noticeably stimulate physiological regeneration and skin healing. We've taken out the comfrey leaf and root botanicals simply because of some controversy and frankly we're just not sure if it's justified or not - so we just figure we have enough good stuff in this jar that it doesn't need "iffy" stuff. I personally love comfrey and will continue to use it, but I understand and love ingredient readers who do their research - that's why we are a business and that's why we started making our own products.

An excellent “scrubby soap” to exfoliate all skin types. We’ve used certified organic oat bran, almonds, honey and buckwheat – all of which are very beneficial for the skin. Light scent of honey and oatmeal.

Awesome fragrance that leaves a clean, fresh and not over-powering drift of fragrance after using. Oakmoss is a wonderful clean fragrance for both women or men, but the men particularly love it. We’ve added olive leaf powder to give it the beautiful green color and to add to its beneficial properties. Olive leaf powder is believed to have antibacterial properties and studies suggest that it can increase circulation and healing of the skin.

If you like the fragrance of almonds and if you like “scrubby” soaps that are extremely beneficial for your skin as they clear off that dead layer of skin, you will love this soap. The beauty of handcrafted soap, especially with the high percentage of shea butter we add, is that the pH of your skin is balanced and not stripped as it is with commercial soaps. We’ve added organic oats to contribute to the scrubbiness, as well as organic ground almonds. The oats have their own contribution to these skin-healthy ingredients.

I have to tell you, we've tried very many almond fragrance oils but none of them gave me that same pleasant aroma that real almond extract does - you know the kind you use in cooking. I always add almond extract to most of the Christmas cookies I make because I love the taste. Well - we recently tested a new almond fragrance that is, if possible, stronger than almond extract.  And the even better news is that it came through in the cold process soap very nicely - good, strong, but not overwhelming, warm fragrance of almonds. This is definitely a keeper.

Well, I have to be completely honest - this cream was formulated originally and continues to be - for me. I have very dry and sensitive skin (as well as rosacea) and absolutely nothing on the market worked. This works and I have tweaked it down through the years as I start to see tiny little wrinkles, so my research becomes a little more intensive as does the formula. It works - it really does. We include a high percentage of Jasmine Green Tea, White Tea and Rooibos Tea as we have read studies concerning its beneficial cancer-preventing properties and healing properties.  If you look at our ingredients, you will see that we use certified organic green tea as an organic infusion and put it in again as a botanical extract, plus we’ve added Rooibos tea as well as other herbals for their skin calming and renewing properties.
