Holiday Organic Peppermint Soap

By Ann C Wooledge
on November 06, 2009

It has been a tradition in our family to have peppermint candy canes on our Christmas trees for as long as I remember having Christmas! As an adult, my Mom made me an Advent Calendar with pockets for each day of the month of December and in each pocket we’d place a small candy cane. When my daughter was little, she would delight in eating one of the candy canes as each day passed. The rules were that you couldn’t eat the candy cane until that day came. We’ve carried this tradition down with our grandchildren – although now that there are 5, it’s more difficult to put that many peppermint candy canes in each pocket and truth be told, we don’t see them every day. Regardless, candy canes and Christmas go together…well…like a horse and a carriage!

Holiday Air Sanitizer and Linen Spray

Check out all three of our holiday Air Sanitizer and Linen Sprays!

Holiday scents equal holiday memories! Use these natural aromatherapy air sanitizers made without chemicals to welcome in the Season. Why is it that the smells of Christmas and Thanksgiving stay with us forever?! That’s so much of what is special about aromatherapy. These three air fresheners in particular bring me back every time to good memories of cooking with my mom, my daughter and now granddaughters during the holiday season. It seems we start earlier each year before Thanksgiving. We’ve just added the pine/fir fragrance for those of us who really, really LOVE that smell as soon as you walk into the room – whether you have a real tree or a put-in-the-box one. It is available year round, but we’ve added a nice Christmas label to it so these make nice gifts as well. The beauty of these air sanitizers is just that – they really do clean the air with the natural essential oil blends. The cranberry, of course, is a fragrance oil, but we’ve blended it with real cinnamon and clove essential oils to give you the natural antibacterial benefits of those two oils – both shown in studies to kill bacteria as serious as MRSA in the air and on your counter tops.

Organic Clementine & Lavender Soap

By Ann C Wooledge
on October 14, 2009

When I first “experienced” this fragrance, I KNEW it was a keeper. It was a fragrance oil and I knew I could duplicate it using just essential oils - and I did!  The sweet orange fragrance comes through with the special note of a fresh clementine orange. Then just a hint of lavender giving it a beautiful clean, comforting type of smell. The soap is, as are all of our soaps, made with 100% certified organic vegetable oils and includes 33%  shea butter – certified organic of course. Good for your skin – plus your bathroom and/or kitchen will smell good too. Match it up with our Naturally Nurturing Organic Hand & Body Cream

Handcrafted Secret Garden Soap

Unique blend of garden aromas

Oh - we have been back and forth on this one. We have tried out different blends, we tried using all essential oils, we tried using all fragrance oil, but our testers agreed that the blend of essential oils with just a hint of rose fragrance oil is what gives it that unique smell of a victorian garden. Rose essential oil is very expensive, although worth every penny, but not something we would be able to use in a soap. We needed that rose fragrance to round out the secret garden that we were looking for. We do use the rose essential oil in our Secret Garden body creams and other Secret Garden products - because it doesn't take very much and these are what we call "stay on" products. We've even given this particular soap extra attention to detail when we were trying to decide how to color it. I (Ann) decided that I wanted it to represent green for the ground and rose colored for the top representing flowers - call me crazy! So that's what we have and, of course, it comes out a little different with every batch. The green is naturally colored with parsley powder. The essential oils we've used include mandarin, geranium, ylang-ylang, clary sage and a touch of myrrh.

Cold and Flu Baby Blend Essential Oil

By Ann C Wooledge
on October 14, 2009

We’re always asked “what can I use for the baby?” And this is a very good question as there is much misinformation out there. This is just not a good or safe choice for babies! Quite frankly, there aren’t a lot of choices for babies or young children and we stick to those that are well-known and recommended by people like Robert Tisserand as well as our own research on safety and cautions. This blend is effective, will keep baby calm and relaxed, plus has powerful antibacterial and antiviral properties. When you or your baby is sick, you need to conserve your energy and rest so the immune system can use all that energy to fight the cold or flu. Click here to see the ultrasonic diffuser »

Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum) Essential Oil

By Melody Hansen
on August 31, 2009

Aniseed or Anise Seed and Anise Star are often confused one for the other and have very similar chemical constituents. They are, according to some authorities, acceptable substitutes for each other and the aromas are identical. Our product is Aniseed, which was used by Greeks and Romans for bread making, as it is today. The Chinese have long used it in cooking and medicine. Aniseed is reported to mask human scent and is used often by hunters and is also known to be an attractant for fish – we’d love to hear back from you on how our Hunters & Fishermen’s soap and spray work for you.

We've begun publishing our essential oil data base with more in-depth information for those who are interested. As a nurse, I automatically categorize information as to body function and you will see that that is how I've assembled the essential oil database.

Safety: This essential oil can cause dermatitis in some sensitive people and should be avoided by anyone with allergic or inflammatory skin conditions. It has been reported that large doses can be narcotic and cause decreased cerebral circulation, which can lead to cerebral disorders. Use in moderation only.
